I have no passthrough on TV, just PCM and bitstream.

Yeah I've tried PCM and bitstream, same thing.

Updated the firmware, but no help. As the title says, ZD3 having intermittent echo that lasts a second or less, and what's worse, occasional sound loss with a loud digital noise sound (like a "trrrrrrrr"). It is connected via hdmi (arc) to my TV. I've tried switching cables, no help.

My HDMI (arc via tv) is having the same issue as Mades, short bursts of "trrrrrr", plus occasional echo (very short, like half a second). I've installed the new firmware update, but it didn't help. Can we get a reply from someone on the Fosi team?
