My fairly new ZP3's remote control is going through batteries within days. Even with alkaline batteries, it's unable to change volume or channels in less than a week. Is this normal?

After cheap batteries only lasted a few days in the ZP3 remote control, I put in a pair of alkaline AAAs. They are dead in less than a week with very little usage. Is this normal?
