I think the pre-amp needs : 4 HDMI inputs mini. 2 or 3 RCA inputs and 1 coaxial and 1 optical. Sub output 1 calibration microphone for acoustic correction (e.g. ARC, Audyssey) would be a big plus. The question also is pre-amp or amp?

It's true that it's a problem to need to press the volume button... With a plug connected or in use as a power amp on an amp / preamp that has an electrical output, it won't work, it's a real shame...
