If you use ZD3 as a preamp, you can connect the subwoofer to ZD3 or ZA3. If "bypass" is enabled on ZD3, ZD3 provides a fixed signal at maximum volume. In that case, connect the subwoofer to ZA3, where you can adjust the volume.
