Hello everyone,
I'm writing this review from Spain. First of all, I apologize for my poor English... I hope you don't mind.
I'm a music and audio equipment enthusiast, and I'm always looking to improve the features of my equipment based on stable and affordable solutions with excellent results. All of this has led me to follow the products manufactured by Fosi Audio.
After a week of use, I'd like to describe my experience with the Fosi Audio V3 Mono amplifiers.
Equipment used:
- Topping E30 II Lite DAC/Preamp
- Raspberry Pi 4 2GB with Lyrion Music Server
- External HD WD 1TB
- 2 Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 speakers
- 2 Fosi Audio V3 Mono with 2 48V/5A Power Supply Units
Instructions for use:
- Files in FLAC and DSD formats managed by Lyrion Music Server software, mounted on a Raspberry Pi. Lyrion Music Server is a very powerful and versatile open-source server software.
- The E30 II Lite DAC, connected to the Raspberry Pi, performed two functions: DAC and preamplifier. I would have loved to be able to perform this same test with a dedicated preamplifier, but for now, the DAC itself has been used.
- Fosi Audio V3 Mono amplifiers, each connected to a Power Supply Unit.
- Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 speakers connected via RCA to the Fosi Audio V3 Mono amplifiers. The XLR connections have not been tested.
Exterior Appearance
- At first glance, the Fosi Audio V3 Mono amplifiers convey a sense of solid construction. The design is minimalist, understated, durable, and well-finished.
- The On/Off switch has a third position, "Auto," that automatically detects the signal input. This way, we can avoid turning the amplifiers on and off. - They have ventilation grilles on both sides to help cool the amplifiers.
- For this test, each amplifier had its own power supply.
Listening, Sensations, and User Experience
My amplifier, up until this point, has been a Nad C-316 BEE V2. It's a simple but efficient piece of equipment that has given me great satisfaction. During this week of testing, I've alternated between my usual equipment and the new Fosi Audio V3 Mono.
Honestly, and in a nutshell: I loved the Fosi amplifiers. Within the subjectivity that comes with this type of testing, my feeling is that the sound quality has improved, with a wider soundstage where each instrument seems to be more distinguishable (especially when listening to jazz), transparency, balance, and without a lack of bass.
They have been tested at the two gain levels the amplifiers offer, 25 dB/31 dB. Honestly, I haven't found any major differences between the two modes.
Conclusions
After a week of continuous use, the new Fosi Audio V3 Mono amplifiers are going to replace my current NAD amplifier.
I think the work they've done with this unit is fantastic. Excellent performance at a very reasonable price. Whether you're just starting out in the audio world or for those who continually need to improve and try new alternatives without breaking the bank, these Fosi Audio amplifiers are a fantastic option. Give them a try! You'll be amazed!
My apologies for the photos. We just moved house and still have a lot of work to do.
I didn't want to say goodbye without thanking Jerry from the Fosi Audio team for his fantastic service.
Best regards, everyone
