Hi,
I have a cartridge that is too "hot" for the X2. On loud records, the pre amp is distorting the record as the input voltage is too high. What arey options for reducing the gain options? Can I modify the circuit to reduce the gain?
I was thinking of soldering a variable potentiometer on the inputs to reduce gain, or adding reducing the gain stage, but I'm not sure what is the best (simplest) method or if that is the best solution. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
I have tried using a rca attenuator but it introduces a lot of noise and increases capacitance causing a high frequency rolloff so was hoping there is a modification I can do to the board itself to achieve the same effect. I think somewhere between 10-6db would be enough to stop the overdriven distortion.
Thanks!
