Headphone Amp Any help available for K7 update procedure ?

Hello,

I'm new owner of a Fosi Audio K7, and I don't find any information and/or process to ensure firmware and driver update,
and be sure to always keep it up to date !

The product page says the XMOS firmware can be updated via Type-C, but I cannot find any public K7 firmware package or version-check procedure.

Can someone confirm if it's possible to update the firmware on this device, and if so, how ?

Does the driver automatically notify me when a new version is available, or do I have to check the website regularly ?

After looking into it and contacting Fosi Audio support directly, I can confirm that the K7 firmware is updatable, and that the latest version currently available is v2.32.

Fosi sent me a Google Drive link to download it.

The update itself is very straightforward: it comes with a small flash tool, and the whole process only takes a few seconds.

What is frustrating is that Fosi does not make this firmware package + flash tool publicly available.

In the “Manuals & Downloads” section for the K7, they only provide the driver.

I suggested that they should either upload the firmware package there as well, or simply bundle it with the driver package,
but as far as I can tell, they still have not done it.

It would be much better if K7 owners could check for firmware updates and install them on their own, just like they already can with the driver,
instead of having to email support every single time just to ask whether a newer firmware version exists and then wait for them to send it manually.

Especially since it would be so easy for Fosi to just add it to the “Manuals & Downloads” section for everyone.

If you own a K7, feel free to mention this to Fosi support as well. The more people ask, the more likely they are to finally make the firmware
publicly available.

No special mode, just set the K7 input mode to USB 2.0.

The package come with the flash tool, the firmare, and flash instruction pdf file.

Once the instructions have been read, it will take less than 3 minutes.

The only thing you have to care is to upgrade the firmware twice, like it's clearly write in the upgrade instruction file
(to prevent any potential risk of incorrect file writing during the first atempt).

As with absolutely all firmware upgrades, there's no such thing as zero risk !
It's like flashing your PC motherboard's BIOS, or the firmware of any device : it's best to avoid a power outage in the middle of the process,
and a write error can always occur (which is why FOSI recommends performing the procedure twice in a row).

The only advice I can give you is the same as for all procedures of this kind :
- During the process, it's best to disable your antivirus software if you use one.
- And better run the flash tool as administrator.

No more tips is necessary ; it's simple, quick, and very well explained in the instruction file included in the package.

I understand the process now: set the K7 to USB 2.0 mode, run the flash tool as administrator, and perform the upgrade twice as recommended in the PDF.


I’m still waiting for Fosi support to send me the v2.32 firmware, but they haven’t replied yet.


If it’s not too much trouble and the Google Drive link is still active, could you please share it with me? I’d really appreciate it so I can update my K7 to v2.32.


I promise I’ll follow the instructions carefully and only use it on my own device.

It's best if you insist with Support to get the link (and tell them to make the package available in the "Manuals & Downloads").

Because if I share it, users won't be tempted to request it from Support, and that won't encourage them to make it available to everyone.

Whereas if they receive several requests, when they get tired of responding individually, they'll take the necessary steps.

I already contacted Fosi Support and they responded with this:

“Hi, bola bola,
Thanks for your message.
The latest firmware version for the K7 is V2.24.
If your K7 version is V2.24, you do not need to update.”

However, I know from the forum that you and other users received V2.32, which seems to be a newer version. Since Fosi only told me about V2.24 and didn’t provide any link, would you be able to share the Google Drive link with V2.32?

I promise I’ll only use it on my own K7 and I’ll follow the instructions carefully (including doing the update twice).
