Hi all,
I am new on this audio world and started everything with the FOSI gears (ZH3 and GR70), which had a good price here in Brazil.
Talking with some guys (some of them reviewrs), using the GR70 as preamp called me attention. But the question is: does the ZH3 "kills" the warm signature or just amplified it?
Setup 1: ZH3 (RCA) > GR70 (RCA) > Speakers;
Setup 2: GR70 (RCA) > ZH3 (XLR) > Speakers.
The diff is GR70 as preamp when behind the ZH3 or after. Some forums and people told me that ZH3 does not "kills" the GR70's signature, but speacially with headphones I think there is a difference when I plug them in directly in GR70 and switch to ZH3. ZH3 sounds more round and clear, so for me less lively, while GR70 plays in a more immersive way. There is nothing scientific here, only my ears (and lack of experience).
Nowadays, I am using the Setup 2 and really enjoying. Samba, Jazz, Bossa Nova and Classical are the favourites here. It has been crazy how songs I knew since I was a kid are being redescover.
Anyway, I am really trying different ways to use the GR70 (and ZH3) to see if ZH3 "kills" the warm signature or just amplified it both in headphones and speakers.
