Preamp Interested in a ZP3 preamp but need more information

I was looking at the ZP3 but had some questions about the inputs/outputs I was also going to purchase a ZA3 amplifier and connect the two with a XLR cable. I was wondering if the RCA output could be used for recording to a tape deck and whether the unused XLR cable could be used for a headphone output.

Regarding the RCA output to tape deck, I believe it should work, since it is a line out. You would need though a tape deck with input level indicators, in order to be able to set recording levels. The ZP3 can use only one output at a time, so you cannot send the output to a tape recorder, and at the same time to speakers, at least without additional gear.
As for using the XLR for headphone output, technically it could work, i think, but I would personally prefer to have a dedicated headphone pre amplifier, in between.
