Co-Create Set a new standard for Hi-Fi: Op-Amp cartridge for easy rolling.

Because opamp rolling has become a thing, I think Fosi Audio should become a pioneer in creating a new "standard". The new standard? Making socketed opamp just like tubes.

Here's my idea: it would be something classy, like glass, or machined aluminum, and inside would be an opamp. Just like a tube, all you'd need to do is remove the "OpTube" and put another one in, just like you would with a tube. I'm thinking of a design that would be easy to plug and play and pull, for opamps. It would be easy: either have an 8-pin connector inside and you just plug in the desired opamp, then secure it with 2 small screws, or having soldered into and made as a single product that doesn't require user intervention beyond just pluging or pulling out the device. I have to admit: I'm not comfortable with opening my amps to change an opamp that I could mess up, either the pins or the PCB of the amp while manipulating and pluging in the opamp. So, there you have it: make a system, that would become a standard among audiophiles, to easily interchange opamps using a proprietary socket that would be sturdy and make it easy to just power off, pull, plug in, power on and play. Something like tubes, but not as fragile. It needs to be something beautifully designed, simple, and I like the idea of a "key" like bigger tubes have. No more returns because of user-created problems, no more bent opamp legs, no more pluging the opamp in reverse position.

Additionally:

I imagine a simple metallic cube, made of resin or translucent material, glass maybe, plastic even, like an ice cube with opamp sitting on a socket, that would go to pins, and that would be visible, so it's nice to look at and easy to identify the opamp. It could even be a tube socket, with opamp sideways, and when connected, it could have a soft glow, kind of with leds in some tube amps. It could be housed in a vaccum tube, without being in a vacuum, nothing too gimmicky either. Or, come up with another housing. Engineers and product designers know more on that subject. If Fosi can make it a standard for themselves and impose it to the world, I'm sure it would catch on. If not, then people will choose Fosi for making such a convenient feature.
