V3 Mono

Hi everyone, Just received my pair of V3 mono blocks, and a couple of questions can/do you stack them one on top of the other?
Also have them set on auto but one switches off, and one stays on for another 4 mins before shutting off, also these are replacing a pair of Linn LK85's and I am using one of the electrical sockets that the Lk's used to power the V3's now the fridge motor turns the V3's on from standby this didn't happen with the LK's

I have used V3 monos for almost 2 months. In the beginning, I tried to place them stacked, but I found them getting uncomfortably hot. Then I placed them side by side with 1 inch of space between them. The auto-feature works perfectly here. Both turn off within the same second. I use them in an office setup, so no "machines" on the same power network.

Is your power supply connected to the same power section as the fridge?

Its a rented flat so I have no idea if its on the same ring as the fridge, all i can say is fridge is in kitchen, the V3's are in the lounge. and it didnt happen with the LK85's.
I shall unstack them and see if it makes a difference, Unfortunately i'm a little disappointed in these amps, have them connected to a Nad C700 & Focal Aria Speakers and the output is a little muddier through these amps than straight from the Nad, The only saving grace is that the Nad is running much cooler now. I now wish I hadn't sold the Lk85's

I have attached mine to metal bookends so that the ventilation holes are located top and bottom, leaving an inch space on the under side.

In addition to the vertical convection path through the vent holes, the additional metal surface area might help dissipate heat

Now they are not turning off at all, you can hear a clicking sound as they try to turn off, but that's it, The clicking sound gets so annoying you end up physically switching them off.
I will say that mine don't get that hot, My Nad got much hotter, until I relenquished it's amplification duties to the Fosi's.

I notice Fosi sells a fan kit for the Monos. What's the consensus about needing the fans? Mine are getting warm, but nowhere near as hot as my Pass XA30.5. Clearly since Fosi sells a fan kit there is some concern about the amps running hot.

Well at least mine are not getting too hot, could be due to the climate, winter in the Uk. I will have to wait six months until the couple of days scorching weather we might get next year and then see if they warrant any cooling system.

I can't tell if they need a fan. I ran my set without fans for 2 months. I didn't have a thermometer, but I guess the temperature was around 40-50 °C. One of them broke down during a startup (it was not warm at all).
Fosi Support sent me a replacement board and I ordered the fan package. Now the units are very cool, I guess around 30°C. Can that be too cool? By the way, one fan is more than enough for both units, when the fan is sandwiched between them. Two fans are overkill.

Regarding the auto power-off, both of mine power off simultaneously, even after the board replacement. So, Paul, it seems to me one or both of your units are defective. I have only tried the XLR connection.

Regarding the Linns, they did have a manually adjustable level for the auto-sensing, right?

Umm......... Yes I think you are correct although I never needed to touch them, they just connected to the Linn pre amp straight out of the box, and thinking about it they connected to the Nad without any adjustment. The only reason I sold the Linn setup was because it took up so much space, but sitting here now looking at my Hifi cabinet there is two empty shelves that would happily accommodate a couple of full size power amps. So in the new year I may have to ditch the V3's and purchase some more Linn's.
