ZD3 Bypass mode

Is there a real benefit from using the ZD3's bypass mode? Does it really bypass circuitry that may have a (slight) influence on the signal? Or is it just fixing the output at the highest level?

And if so, could that have an effect on the sound quality. The weak point of the Fosi is probably the power supply. Can it handle the maximum volume bypass mode or could upgrading to a better power supply increase the sound?

I use my ZD3 as a DAC for my older Bluesound Node 2 streamer (via COAX). The Fosi has a much better DAC chip and should enhance the sound quality. The ZD3 is connected via RCA as a source into my Audiomat integrated tube amplifier (2x35W in class A). The Fosi to my ears has a very mellow laid back sound signature, which is not at all bad. I think all details are there. It doesn't sound 'digital' at all. I do think it lacks a bit in soundstage and depth perception, though. I think it's hard to really review this unit at the moment as I'm using Spotify connect on the Node at the moment. I think the Node mixes the signal to 44.1, but Spotify gives it a "MP3 320Kbps" signal. Once Qobuz Connect is available on the Node I'll migrate to Qobuz for its better sound quality and better UI.
