Streamer S3 Streamer Development Log

Maybe this could be an upgrade path in a similar vein to the way you opened up op-amp rolling?
Offer an improved clock that can be mounted in place of the old one as a user upgrade.
I think this would find many people willing to try.

Update.
I got the Qobuz Connect feature for my Ultrarendu streamer.
I'm also testing a Topping D10s.
Purely as a USB to SPdif converter.
Its Dac is not used.

I compared this back to back Topping against Gustard's U18.
In my system, I prefer the D10s!
It's a more resolved sound.
Even further reduction in perceived distortion, a very calm yet interesting dynamic sound, non fatiguing - just right sounding.
You know when you hear it!

The sound Ultrarendu and D10s achieve beats the Win Pro!
It in the mids and upper frequencies mostly.

I can instantly switch between the two with identical music streams playing and will even do a blind test later to confirm.

Looking forward to seeing how the Fosi S3 streamer sounds.

I'm definitely looking forward to the release date of the S3 too. If the price is right (which it probably will be) and specs and performance are good (you can't really go wrong with a streamer), I'll sell my WiiM Pro. I prefer the esthetics and the higher build quality of Fosi Audio components. Also, I think it's just nice to have all important audio components from the same manufacturer. Hopefully, the new streamer goes into production before the holidays.

Your support and appreciation truly mean a lot to me 😊 . I’m not sure if the final pricing will perfectly match your expectations, but we will definitely do our best to deliver the highest-quality product.

The product supports OTA updates, and we already have a phased upgrade roadmap prepared. The initial release may have fewer features, but it will continue to improve and expand over time.*

Hi love reading the progress and your customer interactions! great work!

An interesting option to add would be a L&R subwoofer output. like the eversolo DMP-A10. Currently almost no brand offers this option so it would be something to differentiate your product with. Maybe even make these xlr aswell. Although not necessary it would be pretty unique.

Thank you and have a great day!

So you mean you’d like the device to have two subwoofer outputs, and then choose left or right in the settings, right?
Do you actually have two subwoofers at home? Wouldn’t that be a bit too powerful?
Where I live, even using two speakers already gets me complaints from the neighbors, haha.

I have two tapped horn subs. 2.4m long horn path.
Drivers are Eminence Kappa Pro LFIIs 15".
I use them sub 55Hz.
They play 18Hz 64ft organ music no problem. You feel that rather then hear it🙂
They are perfect.
Can be subtle, fast, loud, room shaking, whatever the music requires.
You do need to manage room modes. I have one at 29Hz.

A picture of one is worth a thousand words.. Birch plywood construction.

I really like this kind of courtyard-style house; haha, you’re so lucky!

Hi Martin,

We plan to launch within the next two months, but it may not be ready before Christmas. I don’t want to mislead you or set the wrong expectations. 😊
There are some VERY good Black Friday deals to be had in certain other streamers right now. I will keep the faith and hold on for a bit longer. It WILL be worth the wait! I won’t mention which or where as I don’t want anyone dashing off to buy the competition!

I've come to the conclusion that a USB output on the S3 Lite would be perfect for my setup. I'm not a fan of the kind of wobly optical connectors and cables. Also, USB will probably give the best possible signal for the ZD3 (or any other DAC with USB input).

@Will Zhang : Will the S3 or S3 Lite have a USB output?

Up on Facebook today is a new questionairre for a ‘Streamer Transport’. I assume this is an additional product - not the S3/S3Lite? Otherwise this implies you are gong right back to the beginning again…
Will it have a new naming system? ST3? T3?
I’ve completed it anyway but it echoes much that we have discussed here.
Maybe a greater emphasis on audio quality.

I believe it is a S3 Lite survey in order to gather organized information for statistic analysis. It'll bem much easier to look at it and estabilish clients order of priorities.

Hi Martin

I don't think it's a completely new system. It’s more about gathering more user data to better define the features of the S3 Lite or S5.

Hi,

I have a kitchen with 4 in-ceiling speakers and a garden with 2 outdoor speakers. I'm planning to use two Fosi ZA3 amps. With the new streamer, can I run two of them and play the same audio in both the kitchen and the garden?

Does does that mean theres 3 of them in the works?
As @Martin Roscos said, S5 is a new name to us, and i got the impression that there was 2 streamers being worked on, S3 (a regular one) and S3 lite (stripped down, much simpler version of the S3)

Haha if only changing neighbors was as easy as changing speaker cables. But yeah that is what i suggested. 2 subwoofers can help with room modes and increase headroom, additionally placing each near a speaker can make the crossover smoother.

Most of this however can be obtained (in some cases even better) with a y-splitter. The main benefit of having 2 independent subwoofer outputs is time alignment on top of the reduced room modes. So it is not necessarily about the output. More about control.

It's a feature only available in high-end streamers or advanced dsp's. So thought it would be a nice feature to have on an more affordable product, as many streamers are too similar.

Have a nice day!

Hi

Yes, that works. This is a very typical use case on streamer products.

I don't expect anything different from this model than its Wiim competitors.
They are the most competitive in this sector.
Therefore, I believe there will be three models, two of which have balanced outputs.
Otherwise, I believe the prices will be fairly close to those of the competition.
The difference, given the delay compared to competitors, will be made by the implementation, the software integration, and obviously the price.
At least I hope so ;)

I look forward to updates on the official specs!

Haha, that’s a very clever guess 😄

Hi @Will , here’s my last chance effort to get an S3 before Christmas. Please tell us it’s nearly ready to ship….🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
We’re very sorry, but due to some R&D issues, we won’t be able to launch the product for sale before Christmas.

We’re currently making a final push to resolve everything.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas in advance.

It is better to wait more for product working fine, instead a one with many issues.
Personally i need Streamer, i have few options but prefer to wait your product. I am expecting to don't disappoint me. ;-)

I’m waiting for the streamer too. I plan to use Fosi amps and the Fosi streamer in my new house, but I can’t set it up yet since the streamer hasn’t been released 😬
Haha, we’re giving it our all right now — thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm! 😊

And a Merry Christmas to you and your team too. I hope you all get a chance to relax and put your feet up for a few days and enjoy a break.
Then back at it and get that streamer working!! 😝

By looking at their homepage, there seems to be atleast 1 item that is not publicly announced yet... (To my knowledge, and a search doesnt give anything) So imho they really need to kick back and relax some, for a while :)

These guys work hard right! And they do a good job so I’ll let them have a short break… 😁

Stability while streaming Qobuz Connect would be high on my list.

Too many problems with dropouts, streamer lock ups (requiring reboot) and other instabilities that are NOT internet connection and stability related.
Wiim set the standard of the streaming bridge devices (no internal DAC use), I've tried to date.
Just the Wiim SQ is so-so.

Really thorough stress testing, loading large playlists, hopping tracks of different 'res'. Jump into a different large playlist, pause, hop, start rinse and repeat and repeat over and over for hours.

That and excellent SQ of course🙂

We conduct this type of reliability testing for each streaming protocol we support, including AirPlay, Google Cast, and Spotify Connect and so on.

Qobuz Connect was only released in July 2025, so it is not supported yet. However, we are already in discussions and are actively working toward compatibility. This will take some additional time.
